Is Jukoke working?
A quick check after you install, about 10 minutes. It takes you from a fresh Windows 11 computer to a song playing on the party screen. Do it once, before party day, on the computer you will use.
What you need
| What | Needed for | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| The Jukoke installer | Everything | The file from the Download page. Windows 11, 64-bit. |
| ffmpeg | Previews and playback | Nothing to do. It is included in the installer. |
| A folder with a few song files | Both checks | Any folder on this computer, or on a USB stick. Karaoke videos, for example .mp4. |
| A second phone | The guest check only | It acts as the guest. It must be on the same Wi-Fi as the computer. |
Online songs, search and Paste URL need an online song source that you choose, set up and opt in to. Jukoke doesn’t include one. The User Guide inside the app explains the steps.
Start Jukoke
Click the Jukoke icon in the Start menu or on the Desktop.
A small Jukoke window with a spinner appears at once and shows what Jukoke is doing. The first time you run it after installing, it can take a minute or more before the party screen and the small QR window appear. Wait for it. Later starts are quick.
If Windows asks whether to let Jukoke use the network, allow it on Private networks. Your guests’ phones need that to reach it.
When it is ready you see the party screen with a QR code, and a small window with two QR codes.
Join as the MC
Scan the MC code.
In the small QR window, scan the MC code with your phone.
Enter the MC password.
The starting password is
1234. The MC Dashboard opens.
Check songs on your drives
Use this if your karaoke files are on this computer or on a drive plugged into it.
You need a folder with a few song files in it, and Jukoke running with you joined as the MC.
It works on every plan.
Open Library Folders.
Tap 🚀 Get Ready on the Dashboard, tap the My Collection tile, then the button that opens the folder list. Or open Setup, then Song Source, then Library Folders.
Add your folder.
Tap + Add Existing and pick the folder that holds your songs. It appears in the list marked ● in use. The counter at the top, for example In use 1 / 1, shows how many folders your plan allows at once. If the folder is not marked in use, tap it, then tap ● Use for Search. Tap ✓ when done.
Open Add Song.
Go to the Dashboard, open Pending, then tap the + button at the top.
Pick a song under Direct Files.
Tap 📁 Direct Files. You see a list that starts at Song Library. Open your folder, then tap a song.
Add it to the queue.
Tap Add to Queue ▶. If it asks which guest the song is for, pick any. The song starts on the party screen.
If the song plays on the party screen, songs from your drives work.
Searching your songs by title or artist needs the song catalog, which is a separate setup. The User Guide in the app explains it. Direct Files works without it.
Check guests' own files (BYO)
BYO means Bring Your Own. A guest can browse a folder you share, such as a USB stick they hand you, and add songs from it. They can also upload one video from their phone.
You need a second phone to act as the guest, a folder with a few song files, and Jukoke running with you joined as the MC.
It works on every plan. On Free, each guest can upload one video per party (Free+ and up have no limit), and the queue holds one song at a time.
Share a folder.
On the MC phone, open Setup, then Song Source, then BYO Folders. You can also tap the BYO Folders tile in Get Ready. Tap + Add Existing and pick the folder. This list is separate from Library Folders. Tap ✓ when done.
Join as a guest.
On the second phone, scan the guest QR code shown on the party screen. Follow the prompts to join. If the MC phone shows a guest waiting for approval, approve them under Live Guests, then Pending Review.
Check the permission.
Allow BYO Access is ticked for new guests, so there is normally nothing to do. If this guest cannot see BYO in step 4, open them in the Guest tab on the MC phone, tap Permission, and tick Allow BYO Access.
Open BYO on the guest phone.
Tap 🔍 Add Song, then ⋯ More, then 🎒 BYO. Under 📚 Browse you see the folder you shared. Open it and tick a song.
Add it to the queue.
Tap Add to Queue (1). The song joins that guest's queue and plays on the party screen when its turn comes.
Optional: try an upload.
On the guest phone, under BYO, tap 📤 Upload. Pick the Destination folder, choose a video from the phone, and tap 📤 Upload. When it finishes, the video appears under Browse.
If the song plays, guests can use BYO.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Your phone cannot open the MC page | The phone must be on the same Wi-Fi as the computer. Check that Windows allowed Jukoke on Private networks when you first started it. |
| The party screen and QR window take a long time to appear | The first start after an install can take a minute or more. The Jukoke window with the spinner stays up until it is ready. Later starts are quick. |
| My folder does not show up, or says it is not in use | Select the folder in Library Folders and tap ● Use for Search. Your plan limits how many are in use at once. Free allows 1 and Lite allows 3. Stop using one first, or tap ⇄ Switch to this folder. |
| Direct Files shows no songs | The folder is not in use, or the drive is not plugged in. Check Library Folders. A USB stick must be connected before you open the list. |
| The guest does not see 🎒 BYO | The folder is not listed under BYO Folders, or the guest does not have Allow BYO Access. Fix either, then ask the guest to reopen Add Song. |
| The guest sees BYO but the folder is empty | They can only see folders in the BYO list, not your Library Folders. Add the folder under BYO Folders. |
| Add to Queue says the queue is full | On a Free party the queue holds one song at a time. Wait for it to play, or try again. |
| An upload is refused | On Free, each guest gets one upload per party. A file with the same name as one already in the folder is also refused. Rename it and try again. |
